The long sandy beach at Tywyn is not as popular with the locals as many other beaches in the area and rarely gets crowded as a result of this. Best winds are S to W, which can create excellent wave sailing conditions as swell from the Atlantic rolls up the unsheltered beach.
Getting there: From Dolgellau take the A493 W and follow it along the coast until you reach Tywyn. The beach is then signposted
